Why you’ll love solid wood flooring
Some people have the luxury of pulling back carpet or laminate to find fantastically preserved solid wood flooring underneath. It’s an older style that, when taken care of, looks unbeatable in any home.
When older floors are hidden and not taken care of, instead of preservation, it is more sensible to get a new solid wood floor. They’re fantastic at acclimating to the seasonal changes in weather, can be given a scratch-resistant finish, and last for years.
Find the right colour of hard wood flooring for your home
At Wood Floor Warehouse, many of our solid wood floors come pre-finished in chosen shades and styles to give you more choice. That’s why we offer dark, medium, light, multi-colour, and so much more. Please check the product description, though, as we highlight if a particular floor requires sanding and sealing with wood flooring oil or lacquer.
Solid wood flooring for commercial spaces
Most of our stock is crafted and designed to have an AC5 wear rating on the finish. Just a level shy of AC6 (where flooring is made for extreme commercial use) AC5 is as tough as you can get, making it an excellent option for commercial use. Many of the products work wonders in cafes, restaurants, salons, shops and such.
Knowing why it is called “solid” flooring
All wood flooring is solid, so what exactly do we mean when we refer to “solid wood flooring”?
While many homes will utilise modern-style flooring like engineered wood flooring, where layers of wood are pressed together, solid flooring is simply one piece of solid wood from top to bottom.
Solid wood flooring will take logs and trunks of the chosen timber before cutting down to various lengths, widths, and thicknesses. These raw timbers are then graded & refined by cutting to specified sizes.
They then get sanded and often machined with tongue and grooved ends or bevelled edges before being kiln-dried. Kiln drying creates an unfinished solid wood floor suitable for the consumer.
Is solid wood the right price for you?
While we’re proud to offer some of the cheapest real wood flooring on the market, the cost per sqm is typically higher than other flooring types. If you’re looking to upgrade on a budget, or want an idea of what a similar style can cost from different flooring types, shop our range of discount flooring & laminate flooring options.
