Our unfinished solid parquet ash wood flooring in herringbone is a fantastic alternative to our popular oak parquet flooring. While similar to oak in hard wearing characteristics, it offers a more lively character with larger knots and enhanced color variations. The lighter colouring will enable a very effective use of colured oils or stains, if you wish to change the natural coloring of this floor. The unfinished solid rustic ash planks combine the authentic beauty of reclaimed rustic flooring with the traditional look and feel of real parquet flooring.
Each solid wood rustic ash plank is supplied in left and right-hand boards. They are 60mm wide x 21mm thick and 360mm in length. They can be glued or nailed individually to the sub-floor in a herringbone pattern.
We have selected a rustic character grade ash for this floor to ensure an outstanding and vibrant floor. Rustic flooring contains considerably more character than regular flooring and often looks more like a reclaimed wood floor (without the added expense). Expect to see a bigger range of colour, splits, knots, pin-holes and more. We recommend purchasing 10% waste for all herringbone floors and an extra 5%, in you have concerns about any boards which may be too rustic for your installation.
As this is an unfinshed floor, it requires sanding and sealing with wood flooring oil or lacquer.
Installing wood flooring, for the most part, is actually quite simple. However, there are some important rules to follow and failure to do so can lead to expensive problems. Ensure that you follow our guide and you will have a problem free floor.

A solid wood floor is a fantastic and practical floor covering popular since the 1600's. They are naturally hard wearing and often many old buildings still have their original wood flooring. Of course, they will be full of signs of use over many years, but many consider this to be a floor that is then rich character and history. Today, many new floors are already distressed to offer an instant lived in appearance.
